Michael’s background in the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry involved a variety of sales management and category development roles with 8 years experience at American Home Food Products and 5 years at ACNielsen.

Michael’s most recent position was Director Retail Services Southeast Region for ACNielsen.  In this role he penetrated and developed senior management contacts with major retailers including Publix, Harris Teeter, Winn-Dixie, Food Lion, Eckerd Drug, and Randall’s resulting in profitable long-term strategic contracts. 

In addition he managed a team of account managers who had sales responsibility for syndicated scan data, DSS analytic tools, consumer household panel information, pricing and shelf merchandising applications. He implemented key category management strategies at all retailers and was appointed to a select team responsible for development and delivery of a category management ROLAP DSS application.

Michael was promoted into this position after proven success as a Coca-Cola USA Account Manager facilitating category management initiatives within all departments of this company.

Prior to ACNielsen, Michael started his career as a Sales Manager for American Home Products where he won many national, district and regional sales excellence awards.  He was promoted to Region Category Manager where he managed syndicated databases to achieve sales goals and effective category and brand strategies.

He was then promoted to Southeast Trade Development Manager, a senior Customer Marketing position focused against key southeast retailers.  In this position he was also responsible for managing regional trade promotion funds to achieve sales goals and ensure execution of brand strategy and profitability.

Cheryl Derby

Cheryl has 14 years of diversified sales and marketing experience delivering solutions to generate incremental revenue and increased profitability for Fortune 500 companies within the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry.

Cheryl began her career as a Promotion Analyst with MAJERS Corporation where she was responsible for working with client field sales departments to develop feature advertising analysis and presentations to key clients such as Bacardi, No-Nonsense, Maybelline, and Frito-Lay.

After 2 years, Cheryl went to work at ACNielsen.  In her Account Executive role, she worked with the Sales, Marketing, and Research departments of major CPG companies in syndicated data interpretation and presentation of issues/recommendations yielding measurable business results.  As a Corporate Account Manager, she managed over $6 million in annual customer revenue from key accounts:  Bacardi, Dowbrands, Burroughs-Wellcome, L’eggs, No-Nonsense, AH Robbins, Georgia-Pacific, and Tropicana. Her sales responsibilities focused on syndicated scan data, DSS analytic tools, and consumer panel information.  She worked closely with field sales organizations on “fact based selling” with syndicated data.  In her consultative role, she was instrumental in developing and implementing category management positions at many of her client companies.

During her career at ACNielsen, Cheryl was promoted 4 times in 6 years.  In addition she received Circle of Excellence Sales Awards each year she was eligible.

Because of Cheryl’s background with the Alcoholic Beverage segment and her initiatives in Category Management, she was a natural fit to run the southeast region of ACNielsen’s joint venture with PIB (servicing the Spirit, Wine, and Beer companies).  This senior management position focused against key manufacturers/distributors within the Alcoholic Beverage industry:  Bacardi, Brown-Forman, Allied-Domecq, Southern Wine & Spirits, National Distributing Co. and Youngs.  Leading a team of professionals, Cheryl penetrated her client’s senior management to demonstrate the importance of and help initiate category management at many companies.

Consumer Packaged Goods Specialist

Upon graduation from Fisk University, Nikki began her career in Sales Management with UDV/Heublein Spirits West, Inc. as a Territory Sales Manager in the California market.  Within her first year, she was promoted to District Sales Trainer as well as managed the 2nd largest volume territory in Northern California. With her success, she received several awards such as Territory Manager of the Month (3x) and was honored to receive the Most Inspirational Player of the Year Award.

She relocated to Southern California with a promotion to Category Manager for Ralphs/Food for Less grocery chain.  With her expertise in sales management and shelf optimization, she held the position of American Store’s Team Category Management Team Captain.  Nikki then accepted a position with Young’s Markets as a Chain Account Manager representing many major Alcoholic Beverage manufacturers. 

Nikki specializes in the recruiting of sales and account management, category management positions within Consumer Packaged Goods industry.  Her success in diversity recruiting has enabled both candidates and clients to meet their goals.  For the year 2001, Nikki placed in the top 10 nationally of all Project Coordinators in the MRI network and she was awarded National Pacesetter.
